Fusion Fairytale Ch. 4
Chapter Four: Fathoms Below After brunch, Adrien, Daffy, Porky, Plagg and Grojband went down to the docks to meet with the Warner Siblings, who went on ahead. “Here’s the dock,” Laney said, “Now, where are the Warners?” “We’re on a dock?” Daffy stated, “No wonder I'm seasick.” The Kujira twins gave the black duck an incredulous look as Kin speculated, “You’re a duck: a waterfowl! How could you get seasickness?” “Correction: I am a freshwater duck! That means I’m perfectly comfortable swimming in rivers, streams, lakes and ponds.” Daffy corrected, “I, however, am completely opposed to the idea of oceanic travel where I'm more likely to be dragged down to a watery grave by a vicious sea monster!!!” Before anyone could argue with Daffy’s “logic”, the group heard Yakko Warner call them over, “Ahoy, everybody!” “Ahoy, Warners!” everyone greeted. “Any luck securing a ship for our voyage?” Adrien asked hopefully. The Warner Siblings gave awkward smiles as Yakko rambled, “Well…you see…I'm not sure how to tell all of you this, but…due to circumstances beyond our control…that is even though we…or maybe I should just say-” “All of Dad-do’s boats are in use right now.” Wakko cut in, wanting to get it over with. “WHAT?!” Adrien and the others shouted in disbelief. “Yeah.” Yakko admitted, “And the first one back won’t be here for another month or so.” Daffy grumbled, “So, we've gotta wait a month, or longer, to go on our treasure hunt?” Porky, confused at his feathered friend's sudden change in additude towards the adventure, stated, “D-Daffy, I thought y-you we’re op-op-uh-against the trip?” Daffy wrapped his arms around around Porky and whispered, “That was when I thought we were leaving right away. I don’t wanna wait too long to get the goods.” “But you can all stay with us 'til we get a ship in!” Yakko reassured. Dot, who was already moping on the pier, noticed something in the distance coming towards the marina. Curious as to what it was, she brought out a spyglass and took a peek. Excited by what she saw, the Warner Sister announced, “ Yakko, I think you might have spoken too soon!” The eldest Warner brother asked, “Why do you say that?” Dot handed Yakko the spyglass, “See for yourself!” Yakko took a gander and leapt into the air a good four feet in delight, “Well, blow me down! It’s our lucky day after all!” “What?!” Adrien cried, “What is it?!” Wakko pulled out his gag bag, reached in and handed the young man and his friends spyglasses of their own. “There you go! Spyglasses for everyone!” the youngest Warner brother said, “Now, let’s see what’s worth jumping about.” Sure enough, what they saw was extremely jump- worthy for anyone who longed for adventure. It was a beautiful, enormous ship! “Wow! It’s Dad-do’s luckiest galleon!” Wakko cheered. As the ship approached the marina, Corey and his band mates heard jolly music playing; which gave the front man a wicked cool idea. “Hey, Yakko? Is there any chance our band could be the ship's musicians?” the blue haired teen requested. “STOP THE STORY!!!” Laney cried in distress and everything froze the way an old projector stopped a roll of film. The bass player pulled Corey into the foreground for a reality check. “Core, in case you haven’t noticed, Trina isn’t in this parody!” Laney shouted, “How are we supposed to be the ship’s musicians without any lyrics?!” Kin popped up next to Laney and explained, “Actually, any lyrical songs we'll be playing will either be from one of the movies, or any songs the author wants to include to move the story along. Most of the time we'll be doing instrumental stuff.” Laney quickly let the news sink in and replied, “Oh! I see! Okay, back to the story.” The three kids popped down and the story flickered back to life. Yakko replied, “Sure you can! That’s one less job to fill.” He pulled out a clipboard that had a list of posts to assign and checked off the “musicians” slot. As the ship prepared to make berth, the crewmen sang a rousing shanty: Pilot: I'll tell you a tale of the bottomless blue Sailors: And it’s hey to the starboard, heave ho! Pilot: Brave sailor, beware, 'cause a big'uns a brewin' Sailors: Mysterious fathoms below Heave ho! The crew paused as they were ready to tie at the dock. The gangplank was lowered and the sailors walked off the ship with several nets of fish and empty barrels to fill. “Looks like the ocean was generous this time!” Yakko said as the captain, a burly man named Ahab(from the Animaniacs' Moby Dick cartoon) strolled up to him. “T’was indeed, Squire Yakko!” Ahab bellowed happily. “I think we’re gonna need to air out the ship before we take her back out to sea.” Dot stated as she held her nose in disgust of the fish smell. Wakko and Yakko, also appalled by the stench, followed suit, “That goes without saying.” “How long will that take?” Kon asked, not really bothered by the smell. “A couple of days,” Wakko answered, “Three at most.” Adrien and the members of Grojband were ecstatic at the news. “Awesome!” Kin and Kon cheered. “Totally!” Corey agreed, “In three days, we'll be off on the adventure of a lifetime!” The blue haired boy wrapped an arm around Laney, making her blush. Porky was getting excited himself, “It’s gu-gu-gonna b-be a great tri-tri-tru-uh-cruise, the-the-that's for sure!” Daffy, however, switched back to his I'm-not-liking-this-crazy-treasure-hunt-idea attitude and sarcastically said, “Wow! That gives me plenty of time to get my seasickness pills and the sea monster repellent I need!” Adrien shook his head and pulled the black duck to his side, hoping to get his friend into the spirit of things and chimed, “Come on, Daffy. Where's your sense of adventure?” He then began to sing along to the riveting tune the sailors we’re playing: Adrien: The salt on your skin and the wind in your hair And the waves as they ebb and they flow! We'll be miles from shore and, guess what? I don’t care! Daffy: As for me…I'm about to heave ho! The duck then proceeded to blow chunks off-screen, queasy from his friend's description. Yakko and the captain continued their conversation. “I still can’t believe you guys were able to come back so quickly!” Yakko said, “You weren’t due back for another eight weeks!” “True, but the sea was kind to us during our whole excursion.” Ahab replied. The ship's pilot, a man with a slightly leaner build than the captain’s, whose name was Ishmael (in keeping with the “Moby Dick” theme), joined in the scuttlebutt, “Aye! A good, strong wind and a following sea the entire voyage. King Neptune must be in a friendly-type mood!” Adrien, who was standing nearby, inquired, “King Neptune?” An older sailor by the name of Popeye, who was storing fish behind the young man, responded, “Why the ruler of the merpeople and undersea folk, lad. I thought every good sailor knew about him.” The pilot, Ishmael, came up to Adrien’s side and patted him on the back saying, “Perhaps we should educate him, ey gents?” Captain Ahab and the other sailors roared in agreement before they continued their song: Pilot: We'll sing you a tale of the king of the sea Sailors: And it’s hey to the starboard, heave ho! Pilot: The ruler of all of the oceans is he Sailors: In mysterious fathoms below All: Fathoms below! Below! From whence wayward westerlies blow Where Neptune is king And his merpeople sing In mysterious fathoms below Again, the song went on hold as the crew elaborated: “It’s said that King Neptune is as strong as the legendary Titans!” “His trident could render whole fleets to ashes!” “I heard he has seven beautiful daughters: one for every sea.” “No, he has three children; a strapping young son and heir, and two lovely daughters." “Aye! 'Tis said King Neptune’s youngest daughter is the most miraculous of all, with a voice that could rival an angel's song.” “Wow!” Adrien and Grojband sighed in wonder. Daffy and Porky weren’t impressed. “What a load of hogwash. No offense, Porky.” Daffy scoffed. “I agree.” Porky added, “Ju-Just a bo-boatload of n-n-nautical nonsense.” “T’ain’t nonsense, it be the truth!” Ishmael argued, “The waters follow King Neptune’s every whim!” Pilot: The king of the ocean gets angry And when he gets angry, beware! I’m telling ya, lads When King Neptune is mad How the waves'll buck Rock to and fro Sailors: Hold on, good luck, as down you go! “Aye, t'was only by King Neptune’s generosity that we made it through with smooth sailing.” Ahab affirmed. Adrien considered the sailors' tale and thought, “I wonder what it would be like to meet a mermaid?” Plagg, who had been indifferent the whole day, blatantly said, “The only way you'd meet one is if you were drowning. And that’s if you’re lucky, which you aren’t most of the time.” Adrien shook his head in annoyance at his kwami's statement. Ishmael disagreed with the creature of misfortune and told the young man, “Who knows, lad? You may meet a mermaid in favorable conditions; perhaps even on your upcoming voyage?” Adrien couldn’t help but smile and sighed, “Maybe…” The crew then concluded their shanty as they packed away their bring bounty: Sailors: There’s mermaids out there in the bottomless blue And it’s hey to the starboard, heave ho! Look out, lad, a mermaid be waiting for you In mysterious fathoms below! Popeye accidentally swung a fish in Daffy’s face, which slipped out of the old sailor's hand, and flopped off his bill back into the sea. The fish seam down as deep as it could before it looked back up to the surface, worried one of the surface dwellers would try to get it back. Once it saw they weren’t going after it, the fish took a deep breath and sighed in relief. The little sea creature then swam off, glad to be back in safe waters. Some time later, the fish entered what appeared to be an underwater city, passing a large sign that read, “Welcome to Bikini Bottom! Gateway to Atlantis!” As the fish joined in schools of other sea creatures, who seemed to be all heading to the same place, they were soon accompanied by…merpeople! The legendary sea dwellers: half human, half fish, in all shapes, sizes and colors swam along with the friendly fish folk towards Atlantis; the shining city of merfolk! The royal family was hosting a grand celebration in light of the restoration of the ecosystem after an evil pirate tried to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula, the cornerstone of their civilization. Everyone was delighted as they entered the concert hall and found their seats. As soon as everybody was seated, the house lights dimmed as a greedy crustacean in a tuxedo named Eugene Krabs walked onto the stage. The crab had a spotlight on him once he reached center stage, he cleared his throat and loudly announced, “His most imperial highness, King Neptune!” From the side entrance, in a dolphin-drawn chariot came the Sea King himself! A muscular merman will red hair and beard and a glistening crown on his head and magic trident in his hand rode above the exuberant crowd. This was the one and only King Neptune. He lit up the concert hall’s chandelier with his trident, causing the audience to cheer wildly as magic sparkles gently fell upon them. When the audience had calmed down, Mr. Krabs made his next introduction, “And now, presenting the new royal composer in his debut concert! Uh…” A small lapse in memory made the crab stop for a moment. “One moment, folks. That thing's here somewhere- Aha!” He pulled out a piece of paper from his coat and read aloud, “The distinguished, illustrious, and most esteemed-(and incredibly full of himself)- Squidward Tentacles!” A greenish-blue cephalopod in a fancy tuxedo rode out from the side entrance in a smaller, and overly decorated chariot pulled by miniature sea horses. This was Squidward, who smiled brighter than he ever had before. As he waved to the cheering crowd, Squidward momentarily lost control and was flung around until he reined in the sea horses. Then he drove to King Neptune’s side with regained composure. “I’m looking forward to this performance, Mr. Squidward.” the Sea King happily stated. “Oh, your majesty!” Squidward gushed, “I can’t thank you enough for giving me this wonderful opportunity!” King Neptune parked his chariot and released the dolphins with Squidward still by his side. “I promise this will be the finest concert ever conducted.” he continued, “And your kids will be spectacular! Whoa!” In his excitement, the squid accidentally flipped his chariot upside down. King Neptune chuckled, “Especially little Marinette.” Squidward got his chariot right side up again as he groaned, “Yes! Oh, yes! She has the most beautiful voice.” As he drove towards the orchestra pit, the grouchy cephalopod grumbled, “If she'd only bother to show up for rehearsals once in a while.” He arrived at the orchestra pit and landed his ride at the conductor’s stand, released the sea horses, and proceeded to prepare for his debut. Squidward brought out his sheet music and baton, and signaled the musicians to begin. The orchestra played a jazzy tune as the curtains rose to reveal a chorus of lady fish, who began dancing and singing: Chorus: Welcome to the party of the seven seas We’re so glad you came all this way! Just look at our faces, you can plainly see How happy we are today! Yes, we ocean dwellers have been through quite a lot Most recently the drawbacks of a pirate's plot And before that was Plankton’s nasty coup Now, there’s still that sea witch But who knows what she’s up to? So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show We hope you have a pleasant stay! Now, listen to the talents of the royal family As they sing your troubles away! The chorus girls split their line down the middle to make way for two merteens: a young merman with the same red hair as his father, a modest crown on his head, and regal clothes around his strong physique. This was Triton, King Neptune’s son and heir. Next to Triton was a lovely young mermaid with inky black hair, wearing a regal gown and a sparkling tiara, and glasses on her face. This was Mindy, Neptune’s eldest daughter. Triton sang his solo: Triton: The eldest child of Neptune And the heir to the throne Strong, courageous, humble Prince Triton! You can bet that when it’s time for me to take Father’s place I'll defend all the undersea folk's smiling faces Next came Mindy’s solo: Mindy: Princess Mindy, eldest daughter, here to say Thanks to all of you, I've had the greatest day! As princess I pledge to speak up on your behalf From the smallest plankton to the biggest blue whale calf The brother and sister went into their duet, which would introduce their little sister (who actually wasn’t there at all). Triton: Now here is the youngest in our group of three Mindy: Her voice is the best you've heard yet Triton: The strong-willed and daring Mindy: Creative and caring Both: Princess Mari- The song fell short of the ending when the next singer's spotlight fell onto…nothing! Triton, Mindy, the chorus girls, Squidward, Mr. Krabs, the orchestra, and the audience gasped in shock! And King Neptune's trident burned with his fury as he shouted, “MARINETTE!!!”

Chapter Three: Warner's Shipbuilding Company
The next morning the townsfolk of Toonsend hustled and bustled as though nothing had happened the previous night.
Adrien and his friends had caught a ride on a wagon after they escaped from the pirates, and were waking up in a mood similar to someone with a hangover.
“Boy, what a night.” Daffy yawned.
Corey followed suit, “Man, I don’t think we've ever rocked as hard as that attack, have we?”
“Not to my recollection.” Laney replied.
As the wagon drove on, Adrien kept an eye out for a certain building, and when he spotted it, he cried, “There it

Suddenly, there was an eerie sound from outside, causing the eight characters to cease their chatter.
A slight thumping of a cane indicated that someone was approaching the tavern.

“Somebody’s gotta answer that.” Kin whispered, then pushed Laney towards the door, “You go answer it!”
“What! Why me?!” Laney protested in the softest voice she could muster.
“Because you’re the toughest one of our group.” Kin explained.

Tikki and the fairies knew something was up as the girl anxiously searched the room for the boy.
Thinking he was playing a trick on her, Marinette called out as she searched, “Okay, Timmy! You win! I’m not angry with you anymore! Wish yourself visible again!”
His fairies plainly told her, “Marinette, Timmy didn’t wish he was invisible. He hasn’t made any wishes since we came home.”
“What?!”
